What are paint effects?

Paint effects have been used for centuries in the interiors of properties throughout the UK, Europe and beyond. The modern use of paint effects should not overpower a decoration scheme but complement it. When applied correctly and with subtlety they should enhance the scheme and add that little extra that is unique to you.

An almost never ending array of finishes are available that are suitable for walls and furniture, from distressing and ageing to gilding and metallic effects. Faux finishes such as wood graining, marbling and precious stones can be applied in much less time and are therefore much less costly and ecological than using real wood and marble.

The most popular of all paint finishes. A simple mix of pigment in glaze washed over a base coat will change the ambiance of any room. When different tones from the same pallet are used a very pleasing subtle finish is achieved.

Water based or oil based crackle glaze can be used to great effect on furniture or paneling to give a real impression of age.

Can be either water or oil based, although oil based gives a more realistic finish. Most effective on  walls, paneling or inlaid areas of furniture.

Most commonly used in bars and restaurants where good lighting shows the finish at its best.

Another finish that can be created by using either water or oil based glazes. Many woods can be produced; oak, pine and mahogany are the most commonly requested.

When used in different colours woodgraining is very effective in the creation of themed rooms where the impression of woodwashed tongue and groove is required.

Used to good effect in large hallways, conservatories and swimming pools. Traditionally a paint effect but when Travertine plaster is used it also has the feel and appearance of real stone.
