Traditional Home

Interior designer Siobhan Graham brought in Effects Interiors when she wanted to introduce a different look to the kitchen and dining room area of a new house she was working on near Wallingford in Oxfordshire.

The house owners had already set the tone for the colour scheme in soft yellows by supplying fabric for the soft furnishings and it was Siobhan’s role to design and co-ordinate the interior.

“The curtain material already had a textured look and I wanted to be able to recreate that effect rather than have a flat painted wall,” she said. “Taking that as my inspiration I asked Suzanne to produce a sample board to show off her specialist paint techniques and the client really liked the idea.

“Suzanne’s style of work is very inspirational, she explains everything and she’s very approachable. As an interior designer you’re often looking for something different and her specialist techniques work perfectly.”

For the project, paints were specially blended to complement the existing colour palette and the water-based colour wash was applied with a brush and then worked on with a soft cloth to produce a textured effect. A matt seal varnish was used to provide extra protection against kitchen wear and tear.
