Commercial: Cafe Coco

Well-known restaurateur and qualified restaurant designer Clinton Pugh owns several eateries in and around Oxford. He’s already employed the Effects Interiors team in several of his establishments and has called on them again to help transform his latest venture under the successful Café Coco brand.

Their role was to help transform the existing large open bar and grill area described by Pugh as “minimalist”, into a café with a softer atmosphere, using natural colours and mixing classic elements with contemporary twists.

Working to a tight timetable, Effects Interiors used oil-based colour washes in earthy colours on the walls and ceilings to create a warmer, palm court style, and introduced polished plaster in the bar and restaurant areas in complementary colours.

Pugh also paid tribute to Effects Interiors’ work, adding: “I won’t work with any other special paint effects people, they are very skillful, they know what they are doing, they’re reliable and add real value to a project.”

Effects Interiors’ involvement helped to create the atmosphere praised in subsequent reviews:
‘Good looks, good tastes…the colourful new Café Coco’. Christopher Gray, Oxford Times.
‘Sleek, sophisticated, contemporary and funky’. Katherine MacAlister, Oxford Mail.
